Privacy Policy
Effective October 11, 2026
The short version: Veery keeps your email address, your maps, and the files you attach so it can show them to you and to the people you choose to share with. It doesn’t show ads, sell your information, or track you across other sites. You can download everything or delete your account yourself at any time.
Who runs Veery
Veery is run by Steven Budden in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Questions about this policy or your information can go to steven@budden.us.
What Veery collects
- Account details: your email address and password. Passwords are stored only in scrambled (hashed) form; nobody, including Veery, can read them. If you sign in with Google, Veery receives your email address and basic profile from Google.
- Your content: the maps you make, including topic text, layout, and colors, and any photos, documents, or other files you attach.
- Sharing details: the email addresses you invite to a map, whether you’ve turned on a public link, and comments you leave on shared maps (shown with your email address to everyone who can open that map).
- Technical records: the services Veery runs on keep standard logs, such as IP addresses, browser type, and the time of requests, to keep the service working and secure.
- On your device: Veery saves a copy of your maps in your browser so they open quickly and survive brief connection drops, and remembers your light or dark theme choice. It doesn’t use advertising or analytics cookies.
How it’s used
Only to run Veery: to sign you in, save and sync your maps across your devices, show shared maps to the people you’ve chosen, send account emails like confirmations and password resets, and keep the service secure. Your maps and files aren’t read, analyzed, or used for anything else, and they aren’t used to train AI models.
Who can see your maps
- You. Maps are private by default.
- People you invite. Anyone you share a map with can see it and its attached files once they sign in with the invited email address, and editors can change it. Access only works for confirmed email addresses.
- Anyone with a public link, if you turn one on. They can view the map and its attachments without signing in. Turning the link off stops it working right away.
- Service operators, only when necessary to fix a problem, keep the service secure, or comply with the law.
Services Veery relies on
Veery uses a few providers to operate. Each handles your information only to provide its service:
- Supabase: accounts, database, and file storage, hosted in the United States (US East).
- Netlify: hosts the website itself.
- Email delivery provider: sends confirmation and password-reset emails.
- Google Fonts and jsDelivr: deliver the typefaces and a software library the site uses. Your browser contacts them directly when the page loads, which shares your IP address with them.
- Google, only if you choose to sign in with Google.
- Your browser's speech recognition, only when you use voice input. Veery doesn't record or store audio; your browser turns speech into text, and some browsers (such as Chrome) do that by sending the audio to their maker's servers.
Veery doesn’t sell or rent your information, and doesn’t share it with anyone else except when the law requires it.
How long it’s kept
Your maps and files are kept until you delete them or delete your account. When you delete a map, its attachments are deleted too. When you delete your account, your account, every map you own, and their files are permanently deleted, and people you shared with lose access. Copies in the providers’ routine backups are overwritten on their normal schedule. Maps you’ve saved in your own browser stay there until you clear them.
Your choices and rights
- Download your data: open your account panel and choose “Download all my maps.” Individual maps can also be exported as images, PDFs, outlines, or backup files.
- Delete your account: open your account panel and choose “Delete my account.”
- Correct or ask about your information: email steven@budden.us.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, such as the right to know what’s held about you or to object to certain uses. Veery will honor those requests; email the address above.
Security
Connections to Veery are encrypted, files are kept in private storage, and database rules check every request so people can reach only the maps they own or that were shared with them. No online service can promise perfect security, so please don’t store information whose exposure would cause serious harm, such as passwords, financial account numbers, or medical records.
Children
Veery isn’t meant for children under 13, and nobody under 13 may create an account. If you believe a child under 13 has signed up, email the address above and the account will be deleted.
Changes
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, the updated version will be posted here with a new effective date, and signed-in users will be told in the app or by email before the change takes effect.
